This was my first NYTM. While the show was… showy, what really surprised me is how not a single one of the presenters I talked to afterwards really seemed all that interested in speaking about their tech. Whether this was lack of confidence in what they had built (I didn't once hear the word “cloud”) or just general disinterest in the art of system design and development, I don't know.
Maybe I was expecting something different. I'm used to the kind of presentations that Google, Microsoft, and Apple employees give with a quick overview and then meat meat meat meat meat, but in a way accessible to anyone tech-minded. This seemed more like a who's-who funding op.

To be honest, i was disappointed. Many of the demos did not focus on the tech, but rather explained their idea. Also, surprised that many of them, didn't have public value. Would have preferred to have heard what was technologically innovative in each case, instead of feeling like i was watching infomercials for products i won't use.

Got tickets the first time after multiple tries. Thought to invite potential investor firends but they were not available. So I have two tickets extra. If somebody has a burning desire to go, I may even spare the third one --- I am deciding between this one and another one. Contact me through the send email function of meetup. I will decide by 9:00pm and send you an email for payment (no-credit card Paypal) and then forward you relevant email.
