It's also supposed to be SLOW, and the browser is a stripped-down version of Firefox (no Flash, for example). No hard drive, it only has a flash drive.

However, it is nifty and very cheap. Possibly cheap enough to warrant getting the OLPC first, trying it out, and buying a Toughbook if they don't like it.

I think this sounds like a perfect situation for a OLPC laptop. It was all of these capabilities, it's supposed to be crazy rugged, it's cheap, solar powered, and you end up giving one to someone else when you buy one (plus, $200 of it is tax deductible).

doing UN sponsored medical work. A doctor and a nurse. The doctor seeks a computer. They were going to buy a mac. I suggested a Panasonic toughbook. The other thought which came to mind was one of the buy one for a child computer, give one and take the other one for your use. computer is for email and photos, internet, etc. Nothing processor or other system intensive.

Anyone have a solution? I like the idea of the buyone/give one computer as its designed for use anywhere.

thanks for your responses
