I know there is some header information that sent with the SMS but not displayed on the screen. I'm not sure if it has the tower location information but something must be there relating to the tower for police to locate a 911 caller using triangulation.
The header information also includes info about your handset such as the OS you're running, the make and (possibly) model of the phone.

Does anyone know if when receiving a SMS message is there this cell
tower location information sent in a packet with the SMS?
