I would totally support and help out with your idea of setting up a "Technology/Internet Focused Association of NY Entrepreneurs/Founders" as a non-profit. This would be a great resource for companies building networking events. And it would be a great resource for entrepreneurs with weekly/bi-weekly meetings and with the strong core as you suggested. And it would also be a good showcase for companies thinking about creating events in NYC.
Nate's BricaBox might be a great tool to put this together, if he thinks they are ready. Maybe let's setup an open meeting next week and brainstorm with all those that show up?

I think we're a long way off still. There's a number of other events The Hatchery, Social Media Club, Pulvers Breakfast, Brett/Oz's meetup etc... but there is no signature group or event...is there a tech focused association of entrepreneurs/founders? What we really need is an organization where we can bring together the 50 odd successful tech founders in NYC with new entrepreneurs in something like my brainstorming sessions ... we've got some of them in my group and some more that are planning to blog on bootstrapper.com
when i relaunch it but i feel we need to go a step further and bring more people to the table. the key to a strong community is a strong nexus in the center and information sharing (thanks Arts for hitting this on the nose) between past and present entrepreneurs. you dont see much of that in nyc. thoughts?
PS. i''m open to helping build this
