We wrote a script that reads the Post Tags entered into a WordPress Tags post-meta box, before those tags are written to the database. We can read the tags on the page that are output by AJAX. That's as far as we've gotten. Since the WordPress does not store the tags until the post is published, we're not able to use php to get_tags, display them, and give the user the ability to select a primary tag.
We are using document.write to try and reprint those tags into another meta-box, so that the author can then select a primary tag, from all tags.
WordPress doesn't seem to like the document.write element after we use .ready when all the Tags are loaded.
