BuddyPress +1

Still working on this BuddyPress portal for a client. Just got through a glitch with a piece of code that another developer had written a year ago. Was slowing down our entire site. Wasn't a BuddyPress issue. We're bending BuddyPress to suit our needs. Can't wait til it'd down so I can stand on stage at NYTM with the founder and his partner, and we can pitch it to all of you. Hopefully soon!

Interesting!

At the WPNYC meetup last week it was announced by Ron Suarez that the NYC General Assembly was switching to Buddy Press

Afterwards Ron approached me, knowing that I am involved in such things, and said they were having a problem with domain squatters and wondered if ICANN could help. I had to tell him that trademarking and the UDRP were the only legitimate solutions, otherwise first come first served.

Seems even that avenue might soon be closed

OCTOBER 24--Citing the potential of “Occupy Wall Street” to become a “global brand,” a Long Island couple has filed to trademark the name of the amorphous organization responsible for the protests and encampments in lower Manhattan and other U.S. cities, The Smoking Gun has learned.

In a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) application, Robert and Diane Maresca are seeking to trademark the phrase “Occupy Wall St.” so that they can place it on a wide variety of goods, including bumper stickers, shirts, beach bags, footwear, umbrellas, and hobo bags.

Wouldn't Occupy + Wall +Street be too descriptive for a trademark?
