Do you need to use the command line? Why not the rsync library and incorporate into your program?

Thanks for that -- I wonder how I missed that page! Of course, there is no error code that does exactly what I want - - the closest would be error code 3 ("Errors selecting input/output files, dirs") -- but I shall see what I can do. Thanks again!
