Thanks Dean! I think I might have one of those flippable Web sites. I'm heading right to eBay. My site is profitable and has such potential but I'm a mom of one with plans to have more and this is not fitting my lifestyle. www.FairfieldCountyChild.com

Nice post.

While I am not aware of any specific market places, this type of "flip" is generating most of our customer data-mining clients at Ignite Analytics.

Seems our typical clientele are entrepreneurs who, rather than start something new, find mismanaged and/or mismarketed (is that a term?) e-tailers, buy them then apply some b-school skills to turn the sites into large cash-cows.  Great idea if you have the skills.  One guy bought a e-tailer for about 1M and is now looking at 10-25M/year after, I think, 3 years of growth.

Interesting to hear that it is a larger pattern.

Great article in the NY times.com about flipping websites

Dave Hermansen did not own a bird or a cage when he bought bird-cage.com, an online store, for $1,800 three years ago. He simply saw a Web site that was "very, very poorly done," and begged the owners to sell it to him. He then redesigned the site, added advertising and drove up traffic. Last December, he sold it for $173,000.
Mr. Hermansen, 30, is among the latest wave of entrepreneurs who, like the day traders and real estate investors before them, are looking to make a lot of money without much effort.

Anyone know of any other Web Site Marketplaces apart from http://marketplace.sitepoint.com
