What's truly sad is that Hyper-G did this almost 20 years ago. 
Hyperlinks/hotspots in any media whatsoever. It used an external 
database that stored hyperlink data, such as coordinates, etc.

Hyper-G is so forgotten that there isn't even a Wikipedia page about it.
