Re: [newtech-1] NYTM_Job: Mentoring International Students

this is the sad part of my day.

this mentorship opportunity is so distant from recruiter spam that i think it would be a shame if it got filtered out.

mainly because people *not* looking for jobs are the best candidates for this opportunity to improve the global tech community at large.

if we can just agree that recruiter spam is unwelcome, we can avoid this ridiculousness with people mislabeling their posts in fear of being lumped in with the few bad eggs.

mentorships are great opportunities for both sides of the relationship and feel like exactly the kind of communication this list is meant for.

Hello folks,

I work for an International Educational company that is looking to hire Mentors (career professionals or graduate students) that may be interested in supporting international undergraduates in their academic and career choices.

We are hoping to create these connections as many international students find it not only challenging adjusting to the American education system, but are unsure as to how to utilize internship and job experiences to build their skill base and resume (especially with international students being limited in the type of work opportunities that they can pursue).

Work would be performed remotely, via Skype and would require about 30-60 minutes' dedication per month per student over the course of the next school year. Mentors will be assigned about 5-10 students.  Training to occur over the summer, and services to begin to be executed in August 2013.  Small stipend to be provided.

Thanks so much!
