Re: [newtech-1] PR guidance/recommendations.

Okay then you need a B2B PR firm that has or has had real estate clients. They will know how to reach that market. The most important thing is a focus on things beyond press releases, because as someone else mentioned - you could do a lot of it yourself. Make sure you get hooked into the right groups - like REBNY for example. And getting placements in B2B media is a lot easier than getting it in consumer media.

It's fine to think of yourselves a "tech company" internally - but externally you are not. You serve the industry of real estate - always remember who your end user is.

As far as your URL - it was hard for me to remember and did not come up in Google Search. You might benefit from an agency that has more services and can help you with branding.  I see your site now, and think you could use some help with branding, being more user friendly and explaining what you do.  Also - don't put a video in a slideshow - it's just not working properly. Just put the video and header it "See our services in action" or something. You need to get your SEO up to speed too.  You are an essential Business Service.

You are bit convoluted on your targets - looks like businesses (retail/restaurants etc) are really your primary target, with those selling real estate only secondary.   Yelp would be a good partner - as is Google itself. I think you need more than just PR here - and it's a bigger job than it looks as your target is very wide.

This is all from my point of view as an integrated marketer who also oversees PR (who learns tech stuff from this site - but always happy to contribute when there is a fit).

Thanks for that Dan! Ill look into it.

Dianna... I figured a PR firm with tech experience since our service is tech related. Maybe it is not necessary, but the person we currently work with doesnt seem to have the necessary pull/contacts.

To answer your question though Dianna, we offer immersive media services (interactive 360 degree photography, giga-pixel photography, 360 degree video, etc) and are currently working with Google under a new program they have for the small business sector. We are a B2B company. the website is in my sig line ( www.virtualproperti.es )

Hi Jimmy,
I previously spent almost 7 years in the press release distribution business.  I don't have a PR firm to suggest but you could do a lot of the promotion yourself.  If you do, it should be part of well thought out campaign and coordination between press releases, social media activity and organic SEO/blog posts.

If you are going to send a press release out, I would suggest using PR Newswire instead of PR Web.  You'll get better results.  PR Newswire has services that run the gamut (cheap to expensive) accordingly to your needs.  Their lower-end competitor to PR Web is called iReach (ireach.prnewswire.com).  If you have a bigger budget, you could use their microlists to target journalists in a particular sector, etc.

You can also look at expert networks like HARO (part of Vocus) and Profnet or Profnet Connect (part of PR Newswire) to be considered an "Expert" who journalists turn to for feedback for their articles.

Could anyone on the list recommend a good PR person/firm working in the tech field. We have been working with a PR firm over the past few months to help get media attention and all they have been able to deliver is 3 mentions on small, obscure blogs.

Maybe a followup question should be, should a small biz like ours invest in PR to get brand awareness? Should that be a PR person/firm or a service like Vocus where we can compose our own Press Releases and distribute them over their PRWeb platform?

Any guidance/recommendations appreciated!
