The program is in English and they take people from all over the world.  At this point they've probably had several hundred companies. Anyone know how past groups have done.

is a great chance for those that have and idea and don't want to spend all the money subletting in NYC. (3 bedroom apartments cost US$500 a month)

Chilean government give you 40k without equity, so you can build your MVP fast and cheap, if things are going well you can go to a second level and get more grant to grow your business, maybe rise money with some VCs, also you can go back to NYC and never come back to Chile and never give the money back.

there is a trick? Why the government do this? for many year Chilean economy have grown around  mining copper and we need to change that, we are far away from almost every developed country, a few years ago nothing happened here. (don't think that we are natives dressing with feathers... we have highways, 3G connection on the subway, and some 50+ floors buildings :)

This friday Phil Libin (Evernote's CEO) will come to a conference, a few weeks ago were here: Joshua Slayton (AngelList co-founder), Wesley Chan (Google Ventures executive) , Alexia Tsotsis (TechCrunch), Niko Bonatsos(General Catalyst) and a long list. Also some VCs are coming and are looking to set a branch here, we still are far away to have the  Silicon Valley/Alley enviroment but things are moving and seems that the strategy is working.

I'm not part of StartupChile, but feel free to send me an email if you have some questions I'll try to help you.
