Check out David Kalow, ([address removed]). He’s an Intellectual Property attorney who was my co-chair for 6 years in the NY chapter of the Licensing Executives Society. He is an expert, high integrity and he has special fees for start-ups to do exactly what you are seeking…guiding you through the process while you do the writing. His fees are significantly lower than the typical fees you quoted in your email.

Hi everybody. My team and I are looking to patent an invention, but based on the conversations we've had with lawyers, the price tag is significant -- i.e. in the range of $15,000 to $20,000. Does anyone know of a way to cut some cost out of the process?
Are there competent lawyers that do this kind of work for less money or (if we handle the bulk of the writing ourselves) provide a cursory review at a substantial discount? Are there government grants / programs for inventors or start-ups that we can leverage? Is it feasible for us to write and submit the patent application without outside help?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks, and have a great week.
