Thanks – had two other people ping me offline to say this as well – yet another domain I needed to buy.

 

 

Coming from Australia hockey to me is grass hockey (though most of the time played on artificial turf but you get the point),

ice hockey is NHL etc.

It depends on the context. If there was a certain call in question in a NHL game you would say NHL rules. But in general when Americans are talking about ice hockey they say just "hockey".
