Oh yeah, it is on-topic, and very good info to know!

Sorry Eddie, I should have been clearer. Although it didn't apply to Jay specifically, I did think it was *on topic*.

But Brendan isn't LinkNYC like only in kiosks on the street? That's not going to help Jay in NJ that much unfortunately. (But it's good to know regardless.)

I second the suggestion not to dump FiOS completely but to go for FiOS Internet-only instead. I have 25/25 Internet plus Extreme TV (the second-most-expensive TV tier) and I'm thinking of downsizing to Internet-only once I figure out how to wean my mum (who's staying with me for the moment) off of her slate of channels :) Then I'd probably upgrade to FiOS Quantum (minimum 100/100), dump the TV part altogether and go Plex/Roku/Google TV.

It might be easier to move to a town with Google Fiber though. I hear the food scene in Austin is quite nice...

Eddie, but then I'd have to live in Texas. Bummer. :)

You can stick with FiOS and downgrade to internet only.  When I ditched TV I switched from FiOS to Cablevision. $56/mo plan, which is cheaper than the 70/mo I would have been paying on FiOS. I think the quality of connection would have probably been a bit better if I had stayed with VZ, but it's been great overall.   We have Amazon Fire TV stick with prime streaming and Netflix, lso FuBo TV for live international football streaming.

I don't know who your provider is in NJ,  but a 20Mb down and 5Mb up connection oughtta cover it. (Until 4k streaming arrives)

Hey gang,

Need your advice. I'm gonna dump FiOS and go with WiFi only - with Netflix + Apple TV.

Which provider (in NJ) should I consider?
