BikeNYC.org Content and Marketing Coordinator (Part Time Position)
Transportation Alternatives is New York City's leading transportation advocacy organization, with a citywide network of tens of thousands of supporters committed to better bicycling, walking and public transit in the five boroughs. Our mission is to reclaim New York City's streets from the automobile, and to advocate for bicycling, walking and public transit as the best transportation alternatives. Summary of Position:
We are seeking bike-passionate, web-savvy individual to manage BikeNYC.org, T.A’s new online hub for bicycling in New York that is designed to serve the city’s bike community, fostering growth and participation on the site. 2013 will be the biggest year for bicycling in the city’s history, due in large part to the launch of the public bike share program, Citi Bike. The BikeNYC.org Content and Marketing Coordinator will be expected to take advantage of this historic moment and use the BikeNYC.org platform to instigate and foster this growth. The BikeNYC.org Content and Marketing Coordinator will make use of T.A.’s contacts and partnerships to bring dynamic content to the website, support other bike groups throughout the city and increase the online chatter among the hundreds of thousands of new bicyclists who will hit the streets in the spring. The BikeNYC.org Content and Marketing Coordinator will report to the Senior Director of Campaigns and Organizing and the online position will coordinate with the on-street organizing T.A. will conduct to transform city streets into bike-friendly corridors throughout 2013.
Daily website content updates
Relationship building and coordination with existing online bike community
Implementation of new content on BikeNYC.org to draw traffic and highlight New York’s bike community
BikeNYC.org cross-platform marketing using social media, earned media and ads
Routine website improvements and updates related to user experience
Deal and event acquisition/solicitation through outreach, cross-promotion and marketing
Other responsibilities as needed
Familiarity with the online bike community is a plus
Familiarity with and interest in commonly used web design and multimedia software: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
Experience with and interest in user and interface design preferred
Experience with cross-platform marketing using social media, primarily Facebook and Twitter
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Excellent attention to detail
Experience and interest in web development
Interest in online ad sales and or fundraising
Dedication to the ideals of local and sustainable transportation systems in cities and green communities
Commitment to making New York City a better place to bike, walk and use public transit
Dedication to hard work in a professional, ethical and fun workplace
Comfortable working in a campaign environment
A good sense of humor
