July's Meetup follows an epic Internet Week, so let's keep the quality high and see some awesome demos.
Submit your company/product -- by the end of the day June 26th -- by stating your: 1. Name and/or Company Name and logo (if you have one) 2. URL (to the product) 3. One sentence description ("The web app that makes your coffee and puts on your shoes with one click!") 4. Slightly longer description SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT WHO GETS TO PRESENT: The NY Tech Meetup is all about "very cool tech." This means that many sites just don't qualify -- not because they're not exciting businesses, but because they're not really doing anything technologically new. For example, if you're site is simply a CMS or database of information, it's really hard to make that interesting enough for a room of 750 geeks. If your company doesn't fit these guidelines, think about presenting your startup at a Meetup more geared towards your industry (i.e. a real estate Meetup, if you're site is "just" a database of apartments). If you still think you qualify to present, increase your chances of being selected by really explaining why your tech is cool and new, and how it would have 750 geeks on the edge of their seats. |

![]() VoiceField is an exciting new way for everyone to express themselves -- and hear what others are saying -- through the most personal form of communication: the human voice. The system has two interfaces:
In essence, VoiceField captures voluntary messages created on any telephone and makes them instantly available online-- so you can say anything you like, and listen to others do the same. It's like voice-Twitter, or YouTube for the spoken word. VoiceField relies on an Asterisk platform, typically used in PBX voice mail systems, and integrates it with a database in a LAMP environment, making sophisticated tagging, search, playback and feeds possible. VoiceField's network can manage concurrent calls, performing multiple recordings and playbacks simultaneously. Additional features, all intuitive, include:
During this evaluation period, the VoiceField website is password protected. Please use the following for access: pUsUh3re. Please enjoy... We look forward to hearing [from] you! The VoiceField Team |

![]() 1. 2. www.VocabSushi.com 3. VocabSushi.com is a web app that helps students studying for standardized tests learn vocab through context by pulling thousands of sentences from recent news articles. 4. Our target market is test prep (SAT, GRE, etc) but also anyone looking to learn new vocab. When you sign up you take a 20-question adaptive diagnostic test to figure out which level (out of 50) you'll start on. Then your wordlist is populated with 300 words at or above that level and all the features on the site are tied into that list. Features include:
Users can maintain their vocab lists and can watch their progress over time. Everything is dynamic - the sentences and headlines change daily and the questions/answers are created on the fly. This is VERY cool tech because: a) The backend indexes thousands of news articles 24/7, pulling in about 10k *good* sentences daily. Cool because the content is always fresh and relevant. Sentence completions... with a purpose. b) VocabSushi manages the user's wordlist automatically by tracking progress on a particular word. For example, if you answer 5 questions correctly where the answer choice is "abstemious", then it means you are mastering that word. Cool because no other vocab site does this on such a granular level and it makes for a highly customized experience. c) One feature is the ability to see news articles that contain vocab words from your list. Cool because this mashup between vocab and articles is a unique way to find interesting news articles. 1. name: urtak llc is the company
2. url: urtak.com 3. One sentence (especially for America The Beautiful Day): urtak is about "freedom of the polls." 4. Slightly longer description: Urtak is revolutionizing the world of public opinion: - it's free, anyone can be a pollster; - it frees us from the tyranny of traditional top-down polling through collaboration, anyone can ask questions; - it frees the imagination to find out what people know and really care about. Of course, there is more information on the site. For reference, check out: Blue Venture Community Urtak This urtak is linked to the Blue Venture Community Meet-up home page description. BVC Meetup organizers are use urtak to engage the community and provide insights. We would create an urtak especially for the NY Tech Meetup, to incorporate our learning about the NY Tech Meetup group into the presentation -- much as we did a few weeks ago for the Time Inc. Management Conference in NY for their top 100 sales and marketing managers. Please don't hesitate to call: 646-321-0855 if we can provide more information for your consideration. Thanks. Robert |
