CarePilot is an ecommerce business focused on people shopping for elder care services, with an initial focus on home health agencies (HHAs). Helping select the right care option for an aging relative or friend is a daunting task and a major decision. With one out of every two people in the United States 65 and older expected to ultimately need long-term care, CarePilot enables individuals to search for, compare, and select from more than 8,000 home health care providers in communities throughout the U.S.

With individual consumers increasingly making health care spending decisions, CarePilot is providing the information necessary for people to make informed choices by offering an intuitive, easy-to-use comparison tool for elder care services in communities throughout the U.S.

Target Markets: Broadly speaking, the market for long term care in the U.S. is enormous. According to the AARP, 1 of every 2 people in the U.S. 65+ is expected to need long-term care and nearly $180 billion is spent on elder care services in the U.S. each year. Payments to the $48 billion U.S. home health care industry are rising more rapidly than any other category of health spending. Baby Boomers make many of the health care decisions for their aging relatives.

Individuals are turning to the Internet to research care options. In December 2006 alone, more than 12 million home health-related searches were conducted on Google and Yahoo. With working caregivers costing businesses as much as $34 billion a year because of absenteeism, hiring replacement workers and other lost productivity, large employers (500+ employees) are increasingly making care giving benefits and information part of their Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). We intend to take advantage of this growing trend to reach end-users through their employers.
