Hi everyone. Please post here by July 2nd if you want to demo at the next NY Tech Meetup (July 10th). Just choose "edit page" and add your info. Please include an email address in your description so we can contact you. Those selected will be notified by July 3rd.
--------------------------------------------------------------
I know I'm a bit late but I'll post anyway on the off chance you're still looking for presenters.
Fleaflicker is a fantasy football league manager.
I would like to discuss some of the technical challenges involved in developing large-scale fantasy sports applications, and also demo a few features.
Some facts:
- Each league has its own rules, so the combinations of different options are maddening.
- The traffic surges to high levels because every single user will try to access the site within the same 4-hour period on gamedays.
- Users are diehard fans with zero tolerance for mistakes and downtime. (Pride and money are often on the line.)
- The competition is fierce--there are competing services from Yahoo, ESPN, FoxSports, CBS, and AOL.
Please let me know if it's not too late to present on Tuesday.
Thanks,
Ori

Mogoso (
www.mogoso.com) helps you get product reviews when you need it most: when you're out shopping, in the library, or renting a movie. The site is designed to work on modern smart phones like windows mobile, blackberry and treo. Search by name ("
the ice storm") or upc code ("
024543012245"). I would like to talk about Mogoso as well as its development process. Contact Peter at friends@mogoso.com. Look forward to hearing!

Greg Galant and Chris Lopinto suggested I demo here. I'm actually a web/DB developer by day but this is my new product that I invented - The WingDipper.
Ever try and get dressing on your Buffalo wings? It's impossible. Chicken wings don't fit in a round cup. The WingDipper is a specially designed cup for dipping wings in dressing. There's a round section for dipping the drumstick and a long section for dipping the flat wing.
I thought the group might be interested in the product development path I took (ideation, design, intellectual property protection, guerilla marketing, manufacturing, distribution, etc) and comparing/contrasting with my web development background. Let me know if you're interested. Email: aaron@wingdipper.com

ParkWhiz aims to connect drivers with places to park. Everyone knows it's tough to find parking in NYC, but the thing that makes is so frustrating is a lack of information. Would you drive around for 20 minutes looking for street parking if you knew you could park at a lot down the street for $7? This benefits both the driver and the parking owner -- the driver doesn't have to hunt for parking, and the parking owner makes money on an otherwise unused spot. We just came out of beta 2 weeks ago and I'd enjoy the opportunity to show ParkWhiz off to the tech community. Questions can be sent to
jon@parkwhiz.com.
HitTail helps small to medium-sized businesses and blogs boost their natural search rankings by analyzing search engine traffic and making suggestions for writing topics, that if implemented, will naturally boost traffic in the future. HitTail's innovative approach to content-based SEO was highlighted in BusinessWeek's "Best Ideas of 2006" issue. We'd love to have our founder, Mike Levin, talk more about this at the July meetup. If you'd like to find out more about HitTail please see our
FAQ or check out our
video. You can also contact me,
Matt Mack, with any questions.

Amazon Web Services will be in town!
Amazon Elastic Compute Could (
Amazon EC2) and Amazon Simple Storage Service (
Amazon S3) - The power duo "Infrastructure As a Service" offerings will be demo'ed. A demo will explain how a typical Rails application can "auto-scale" - add new servers on-the-fly as demand grows and relinquish server as demand falls and thus save cost.

We would like to present our company UpNext at the July Meetup. UpNext is a 3D virtual Manhattan that will change the way people do local search. UpNext empowers users to search visually, directly from their web browser, to find what?s ?UpNext? in their city. Please email Danny Moon at dmoon@upnext.com for more information. Look forward to hearing from you.
I would like to offer to do a presentation on my next project. I unfortunately can't reveal its name here, but will refer to it by its codename, QP. QP leverages various web 2.0 technologies to create a web 3.0 experience without losing the feel of a true web 1.0 app. To give you some idea of the motivation behind it, its cofounders and financial backers had seen site after site based around stale content made by the site, or useless user generated content, and wanted to find a way to leverage both concepts to shift the paradigm away from them and towards an extensible platform. Please contact me at kuribo@gmail.com

Confabb (confabb.com) is the largest database of major conferences, conventions and trade shows in the world, sorted by industry. SenseBot (Beta) represents a new type of Search Engine that delivers a summary in response to your search query instead of a collection of links to Web pages. SenseBot takes results returned by a major Web search engine (Google or Yahoo) and summarizes them, preparing a concise digest on the topic of your query. The summary itself becomes the main result of your search. This approach is unique to SenseBot and is protected by Patent Pending.
We are a startup located in NYC. SenseBot is currently in Beta, and you are welcome to explore its capabilities.
