Amazon’s Amazon Web Services and Microsoft’s Windows Azure are two of the top Public Cloud platforms available today. This presentation will focus on common design and development patterns for .NET applications that run on both of these platforms. It is based on the presenters experience architecting and building similar applications. The agenda will be:

1. The National Institute of Standards Definition of “Cloud”.
2. The top 4-5 public Cloud providers
3. A brief overview of Windows Azure and Amazon Web Services
4. Typical application architectures
5. A little bit about building Cloud Portable applications

Bill Zack is an independent Consultant specializing in Cloud Computing and Microsoft .NET technology.

He has acted as a Senior Architect and Consultant with a major New York consulting firm where he drove Cloud strategy, architecture and execution for customers on both Windows Azure and Amazon Web Services.

Previously, as a Principal Architect Evangelist for Microsoft, he worked extensively with customers and partners to help them design build and move applications to the Windows Azure Cloud Platform. Based on this he was designated internally as one of 20 world-wide Microsoft Cloud Subject Matter Experts.

He is an author and a frequent pubic speaker at conferences and user groups on Cloud technology. He also is one of the leaders of the NYC/NJ Windows Azure User Group, the NYC .NET Developers Group and the New York Chapter of the International Association of Software Architects.

This meeting will be held at the Microsoft offices as usual. Check the Meetup site for details!

Since I wasn't able to pull it up last night, I just wanted to include the link to our site here for anyone interested in checking us out:

I also realized that in my haste to make my introduction quick I forgot to mention that we actually use Amazon Web Services for many things at OLO, in case you found the talk interesting and are looking for a place to explore that area. Thanks everyone!
