IDNY @ Duravit :: Shades of Green [w. Rachely Rotem Studio and Free Green]

Sustainability — no longer just a pretty buzz word — is infiltrating and influencing all aspects of our lives, and this IDNY event showcases two disparate, yet related, examples. Designer Rachely Rotem is set to deploy thousands of feet of reflective rope for Miami’s prestigious Art Basel — and plans to recycle it all after the show. Meanwhile, Ben Uyeda and his Free Green team live up to their name by providing free sustainable house plans. In both cases, green design is reaching the masses, and we invite you to sip, socialize, and be seen in a sleek space while these luminaries discuss their work. Design Talks by:

Rachely Rotem
Founder and Principal at Rachely Rotem Studio
Co-designer of the outdoor pavilion for Art Basel 2010 (a collaboration with Phu Hoang Office) Ben Uyeda
Co-Founder + Chief Architectural Officer at Free Green

The atmosphere was very exciting in that your senses became over stimulated with the beautiful and new Duravit showroom space as a backdrop.
Everyone I spoke with was warm and very interested with sharing information about their companies and themselves.
I shall return for future presentations.
Speaking of the presenters; I found their messages to be open and direct and the depth of detail in each persons power point was very informing.
Great to meetup with all of you!!

Enjoyed the Free Green presentation. Just wish things would start on time; socializing is for afterwards.

Interestingly, two very different architectural and design directions presented by two talented and environmentally aware professionals.

Thanks for having this. It was unexpectedly interesting. I would have liked to talk to more people especially the organizers but I had to leave early. I was very interested in Ben Uyed's presentation.

Good turnout & good visuals. While both presenters had excellent ideas to share, the style and energy level of Ms. Rotem's presentation could have been improved by not reading directly from her printed talk notes.

All the speakers were great! It was easy to slide into their world of thought and really understand what they were speaking about. They spoke about the current times leaving history behind them. They inspired me to get involved with their movements. Instantly started following them on Twitter and Facebook.
