What Jeff C is saying about this Meetup Group

Is there no way of vetting the members? Or at least give some manners lessons of how to act when at someone's event/party? I was very embarrassed as a representative of the design industry, especially for the speakers (which I am sure were not paid to be there) and our host. This was the rudest bunch or 'design professionals' i have experienced at any event, not just this group, but ever. No one asked the audience to be quiet during the presentations and they seemed to get louder as the alcohol dwindled. The irony is that the speakers were looking for volunteers, not high paying positions. Have these meet-ups become a place where job-hungry scavengers bring their non-industry friends, to get drunk, eat dinner and 'network' for that 'dream job' that they will probably never get? Should this not be about the topic and the speakers? And to show off the showroom? I hate to be so negative, but there was no control over the audience. Where have our manner's gone?
