Last Night"s Meetup
IDNY @ Heller

During last Thursday's, January 14th, IDNY Meetup at Heller, Massimo Vignelli reminds the audience, "Do not ask the people what they want, give them what they need." We couldn't agree with him more.

SEEN AND HEARD

Massimo Vignelli addresses a crowd of some 175 IDNY Meetup members and guests about varied collaborations with Heller, a historic relationship that began with Vignelli's first project for the company, the award-winning MAX1 Stacking Dinnerware Collection.

Alan Heller, President of Heller, explaining the unique infrastructure of ergonomic seating concept ErgoErgo. Alan Heller also briefly addressed the topic of "authenticity" and the company's new lawsuit against their biggest client, Design Within Reach.

Zachary Feltoon, co-founder of Brooklyn-based industrial and furniture design studio David Zachary, offered insights into a few of his product designs and work on the project Sustainable South Bronx, a local initiative that successfully rejuvenated the neighborhood's public spaces with the help of community-designed furniture.

Architectural Designer and Pratt graduate Ya Fen Chen chats with Rus Yusupov of Commercial Pop and Daisy Ames of Vignelli Associates.

Designer Pages co-founders Avi Flombaum and Jacob Slevin are apparently more enamored with each other than Vignelli's presentation.
