In this talk, we will focus on 2 aspects of duality in astrology: 1) each planet classically rules 2 signs, and these 2 signs express different aspects of the planet's symbolism, and 2) the planets themselves can be grouped into complementary pairs. By further weaving these concepts with wisdom from The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey, we can better reveal fundamental principles of astrology and apply them to our lives in practical ways. We will also touch on the modern rulerships. I will present this talk at the upcoming NCGR conference, and I will likely try to solicit audience feedback and participation during this practice-run. It should be insightful and accessible to both beginners and advanced astrologers.
Kirk Kahn has been deeply involved in astrology for 12 years. He studied astrology widely at Kepler College, with various other teachers, and at the many conferences organized by the leading astrology organizations, namely NCGR and ISAR. Combining his 2 loves, astrology and software development, he created http://planetwatcher.com and is currently involved in development of the historical atlas used in natal chart calculations.
Outline & Directions:
The meetup takes place at the Theosophical Society, which is right next to Quest Bookshop. You may enter through the bookshop before 7pm (when it closes) or to the left of the bookshop after 7pm. A sign will be posted. The following is a rough outline. Please come on time so you can introduce yourself.
7:00 - 7:15 - Brief intros from attendees
7:15 - 8:30 - Talk/presentation
8:30 onward - Socializing
In line with the non-profit model, the goal is to collect just enough money to pay for expenses including room rental, meetup fees, and hopefully some compensation for the speaker. The hope is that a consistent amount of $5 from everyone each meetup will cover costs, averaged over the long term.
