Outer Planets: Their Influence on Generations

Despite the notion of generational gaps being widespread in everyday language as a way of understanding differences between age groups, most astrologers still focus their readings for clients exclusively on psychological understandings of personal experience and motivation. But, as interpreters of events in time and facilitators of shifts in consciousness, do we also have a responsibility to make our clients aware of the larger societal forces shaping their lives? Joel M. Thomas believes that we do and will focus his talk at this month's meet-up on the generational influences of the outer planets on  society throughout the decades.

Joel M. Thomas is an astrologer, a storyteller, and an emerging pioneer in the field of cosmic consciousness. As a student of spirituality, philosophy, and social-psychology he is currently building a bridge of transformation to a world of greater harmony and oneness. Over the last several years he has provided individual readings, designed and delivered trainings and workshops to a variety of audiences, including teens and adults, and consulted with business and organizations. His unique approach guides participants on a journey to the truth of who they are and opens new doors of possibility for personal empowerment and social change

Meeting starts at 7pm SHARP, with a 20 minute chat about some very basic astrology for newer students, given by co-organizer Anthony Picco, followed by 15-20 minutes of personal introductions and announcements. After that, we will turn the floor over to Joel M. Thomas for about an hour and twenty minutes, followed by general socializing. The suggested donation is $5, and greatly appreciated, but whatever you can afford is acceptable. And if you cannot afford anything, you are still welcome to attend.

PS: If you show up a little early, the Quest Bookshop is an excellent source of many metaphysical books and items, and well worth a browse. They close at 7pm.

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks once again for a great meetup last night. Sorry we couldn't get to all the questions and comments or chart readings at the end. I would definitely be up for doing a part two if people are interested. As promised here is the link to my source on the 20th Century into 21st Century Generations: https://www.wstardesigns.com/Hor...

    Until Next Month,

    Joel

Great group. The meetup is at a intermediate to advanced level, not really for beginners. It's like not knowing how to drive stick-shift and being on a nascar track w/ everyone flying by you. However everyone was very supportive and no one made remarks toward me for not knowing anything about astrology. I will read up on it, and come back. Great group.

Victor, the first 20 minutes are always on a very basic level, but a little step above a general dictionary description. They rotate, There is a beginner chat about the planets, one about the signs, one on the houses and one on the aspects. The aspects is probably the most advanced "beginner" stuff. If you want to play with astrology a little bit, use www.astro.com. For free (altho registering is free too) you can get a copy of your personalized chart using birth time, day, year and place. It also offers a loose description of the stuff in your chart. It's a start. And you can ask questions afterwards. I am not the only experienced astrologer there... Thanks for popping by.

Hi, can you recommend any books/websites for the complete beginner? (I didn't like astrology for dummies Lol) I don't even know my moon sign or how to do my chart.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll see you tomorrow, unfortunately without knowing much but soon will learn. The library can put a hold and order a number of astrology books for you, but they're were only a few on the shelves, which were about as realistic as a newspaper horoscope. I didn't want to buy a book both sight unseen and without a recommendation.

Alas, we don't have a copy of A-Z currently at the Quest (although I beg them to keep it in stock). We do have Alan Oken's COMPLETE ASTROLOGY, which is definitely one of the best natal astrology books out there, but it doesn't cover other forms the way A-Z does.

The Moon will be void of course for most of the meeting; I was thinking of suggesting a discussion on void of course and retrogrades.
