Newcomers Introduction

  • Jul 19, 2009 · 1:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We want to extend a warm (maybe I should say "cool", it being July) invitation to all members who have
never attended a meetup. We will see a presentation called "The Pleasures and Perils of Rooftop Beekeeping" presented by me, John Howe, and visit the rooftop hive(s). Everybody else is welcome too, especially if you haven't seen the Green Spaces apiary. There will be small charge (a few dollars) as they have to open, set up and close the place. Depends on how many show up, we will pass the hat. More to follow on this.

What a fabulous intro to urban beekeeping! I've done so much reading, but nothing beats the experience of seeing a real live rooftop hive. John, thanks so much for taking the time to show us newbees.
Photos and a video of the event can be found here:

John gave an informative and interesting presentation. I've never learned so much at a meetup.

John is a wonderful presenter and very patient with any and all questions that come his way. His enthusiasm for beekeeping is contagious and really got me excited to learn more. All in all, a great time.

I'm extremely sorry and unhappy that I will miss this meeting. I will be vending my handcrafted natural soaps at Park Slope Farmers Market on 5th Ave bet 3rd & 4th Streets.
