Update: We will do a hivecheck with a tent at 1pm, for beekeepers and others interested in learning about fall/winter prep. Thanks to Joseph & Donna McElroy for hosting this potluck BBQ in the fantastic garden at Brook Park! There are several spots there to roast, toast, grill or smoke meat, fish, tofu, vegetables or warm your favorite dish.
Please RSVP as soon as you can and let us know what you'd like to bring so we can plan for the right numbers of people, and make sure meat eaters and vegetarians alike are served.
Prep Notes 4 BBBQ 10-10-10 The weather looks warm & sunny for our event. As the smoking process takes 2-5hours-depending on the weight of the food we smoke-most food will start to be ready around noonish so please plan to attend between noon & 5pm, or come along earlier if you'd like. Around 5pmish we will start to break down, clean up & head home so as not to be cleaning up after dark. Also, as Jim & Liane will be in attendance, we will ask them to look in our hive & give us their input on whether or not we get honey this fall & hive winterization. Like any NYC community garden, Brook Park is an environmentally sensitive area & we ask that folks be responsible and make sure to observe recycling, composting and trash removal (adequate containers will be available to help in these efforts). Also, Brook Park has a port-a-pot & Joseph&me will have to make sure that we will have access to water for our event.
