[Special Event] 3rd Annual NYC Open Mayor’s Cup Backgammon Championship

The NYAC Backgammon Club is proud to announce the 3rd Annual NYC Open Mayor’s Cup Backgammon Championship to be held on Sunday, November 21st, 2010. The previous two championships proved very successful attracting a lot of interest from New York backgammon community with over 32 participants. Such top US players as Perry Gartner, Alan Grunwald, Victor Ashkenazi, Allen Hodis, Richard Munitz, and others came to compete. Rich Munitz was the 1st Mayor’s Cup winner in 2008, having come second in 2009 by losing to Mr. Michael Battaglia, our new reigning champ.
As in the previous years, the Championship will consist of 5 matches. The first 4 rounds will be 9 point matches, and the final match will be played at 11 points. The new addition to this year’s format is a Consolation Round. Therefore, we will end up with two winners: one for the main flight and one for the consolation round. The main flight winner will receive a trophy from the Mayor’s office; all the participants will receive a commemorative medal for their participation in the Championship. The prize for the Consolation round is to be announced.
The price for the event $150. It includes breakfast, lunch at the NYAC Tap Room, afternoon tea/coffee, and hors d’oeuvres and wine in the evening.

The price for the championship is $150.
The checks for the Championship should be made out to Leonida Zaloutskaya or Cash, as the NYAC does not accept personal checks from non-members.
Any reservations made after Friday, November 12th, will be subject to late fee of $50.
