Empanada Ride - 5-Boro Bicycle Club

This should be right up this group's alley! The 5-Boro Bicycle Club is doing their popular Empanada ride, which will start from City Hall in Manhattan and head out to Corona in Queens for some delicious empanadas, but along the way there will also be stops at Grimaldi's for breakfast as well as the Lemon Ice King for dessert after the empanada lunch, before riding back to the start point (City Hall). NYC Cycling & Food indeed, you will likely eat more calories than you burn on the ride. :-D

Figure about 6-7 hours max for this ride, accounting for the foodie stops.

The 5BBC welcomes non-members to its rides, and they are free (you do have to pay for your own food though, of course). Their only requirement is that you must wear a helmet to join their rides. No helmet, no ride, no exceptions.

Lots of good food on this ride, and a total of 48 people showed up. We did in fact stop at Grimaldi's, Lemon Ice King, and the Empanada Cafe. With a 40 mile bike ride thrown in, and great weather to boot. The 5BBC holds this ride a couple times a year. Definitely worth checking out if you love cycling and food.

This sounds like fun! Sad that I can't make it this weekend.

One more thing: The map on this meetup page is wrong (it was an existing location choice that popped up automatically and apparently we can't edit the meetup details once submitted. DUMB!). City Hall Plaza is at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge on the Manhattan side. Please look at the map at the 5BBC page linked above instead.

*Clarification: The breakfast stop is not a definite, according to the ride leader. Sorry about that, I should have proofread before I posted it.
