Joint OpenStack NYC and NYC Cloud Foundry meetup

OpenStack is the world's most popular open source Infrastructure-as-a-Service, and Cloud Foundry has become the world's most popular open source Platform-as-a-Service. Deploying them together is a natural fit for your next generation systems of engagement.

This special joint meetup of the OpenStack NY and NYC Cloud Foundry communities will give both audiences an introduction to these popular open source IaaS and PaaS projects.

The presentation will describe the compelling advantages of each technology, and then explain how they can be integrated, optimized, and scaled to provide a complete cloud application hosting solution.

    More of a marketing pitch...

Was expecting at least a demo. Maybe of a small app locally deployed, then taken over and deployed to the cloud.

Ok, got it. I tried to stay high level and not get into live coding because of the joint nature of the meetup. At our past two meetups we did Cloud Foundry demos like this (though not deploying locally, then migrating to a public cloud. But that would only differ in which cloud you set as your target). In May Ryan Baxter demo'd how to write a Java/Twilio app and deploy it out to Bluemix. He also has a recording of a virtual meetup with this demo. Then in June we had Cornelia Davis demo Eclipse integration and deployment out to Pivotal WS. Those slide are online.
