Single language. Small projects. Large community with a passion for optimized, lightweight code. Powerful, easy-to-use tools for building fault-tolerant distributed systems. Plus it opens a wormhole for involving .NET developers in actual interesting projects! Disclaimer: I'm not a .NET developer -- but I know plenty, and now I'd actually consider hiring the more .js-savvy of the bunch.
A fan of simple systems. Having learned many server-side and client-side technologies and how to painstakingly rube-goldberg them together to scale and be fault-tolerant, Node really appeals to my "Keep it Simple Stupid" philosophy.
