Hi All,

Would you like to do this project off shore. Anyone on meetup network looking to save a development cost upto 50% and want to launch a product as an early release can contact me anytime on any technology or platform.

Is anyone interested in some part time work on a store system for this shopping social network?  they have a lead developer but he needs some help with the features.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the detailed feedback. I have been looking into working with Radiant and it seems like a great choice so far; I don't know any other RoR CMSs out there which feature as prominently as Radiant.

Regards,
Bilal.

I did a consulting project using Radiant CMS for the Duke University Biochemistry department.

Basically, they wanted a simple CMS with the ability to manage faculty pages.  So, I added an extension to Radiant to do this.  I also used some third-party extensions to add file uploads, etc.

Radiant pros:

1)  Great extension interface.  Easy to extend.
2)  Simple.
3)  Stays out of the way of the rest of your app.  You can use Radiant as much or as little as possible.
4)  Tag-like interface is easy to extend, and user-friendly for end users.

Cons:

1)  In my case, I was building the site for a group of people who had never used any CMS and had no knowledge of wiki editing or blogging.  So it was a completely foreign concept that they would actually have to learn how to edit content.  Even their administrator kept asking where the HTML files he had to edit were.  While Radiant is easy to use for us software folks, there is no documentation or hand-holding to get anyone started.  I ended up creating my own tutorial documents for them, and it was a great lesson in "how we are not like the rest of the world."

2)  The version of radiant I was on (0.4 I think) required a restart every time I edited the tag library.  Big pain, since tags are usually minor changes.  Not sure if this is still the case.

Dear friends,

Have people here used any RoR based CMSs? If so any recommendations would be great! I'm looking to use one for an upcoming project.

Thanks,
Bilal.
