** ALTERNATIVE VENUE FOR THIS WEEK -- February 6th, 2013 **
Fieldtrip to DORKBOT at 7p!
For those able to continue, onto NEW SPECTRUM by 9.30p.
The venues are both in LES, roughly 10 blocks apart.
LET'S MEET BY 7p AT DORKBOT.
Location: Slader, 199 Lafayette St. -- 3rd floor
DORKBOT runs 7-9p. (Though we need not stay for everything.)
NEW SPECTRUM performance by Dan Palkowski starts about 9.45p. (Though the evening there will start earlier.)
NEXT WEEK -- NORMAL THIRD WEDNESDAY MEETING AT CONTROL GROUP.
If you are new to the group, please feel free to contact me (David Reeder) directly so you'll be sure to find us.
For everyone else, I suggest we organize casually -- ie, it might be fun to sit together and/or chat afterwards, but please don't wait for a commnique to engage the Dorkbot community. We can follow-up after or on Third Wednesday.
WHY DORKBOT? -- This week's Dorkbot is hosted by Jonathan Marmor of the "Monthly Music Hackathon NYC". One of the presentations, by Taylan Cihan and Andrew Lucia, leads with the following description: "'Card I' is an analog synthesizer conceived with the objective of an electronic instrument that is as responsive to a performer's momentary decisions as an acoustic instrument would be."
WHY NEW SPECTRUM? -- One of our members, Dan Palkowski will later perform at another venue, New Spectrum, at about 9.45p.
