NYC SuperCollider

We still have room for presenters, so speak up if you have a project or topic that you'd like to present. If we don't hear from anyone we'll plan on dissecting some SC tweets and covering the basics.

    We have two presentations scheduled for this week:

    :: 7p -- Michael Musick

    Michael will outline the major principals of his compositional suite, Sonic
    Spaces, illustrated by code and sound excerpts, with follow-up explaining
    future development goals.

    Sonic Spaces will be presented at the SuperCollider 2013 symposium in
    Colorado (http://supercollider2013.com)

    :: 8p -- Chris Ross of Control Group A first look at coding with the Leap Motion, using a Supercollider
    sketch as a platform for interactive sound manipulation.

    What to bring? An open mind and an inquisitive spirit. :)

    Some background with SuperCollider is highly desirable. We are open to anyone interested to engage with SC, but ideally you have spent some time dinking around with the program, and perhaps some hours playing with the code, perhaps trying your hand at creating sounds or composing electro-acoustic works. This is one application, though some might consider it narrow -- SuperCollider has many uses in research and the arts. It can even do your taxes… Background in object-oriented programming is essential in the long run, but you can pick that up along the way.

    Primary website for SC is http://supercollider.sourceforge.net . If you've used it and have geeky questions, we can handle that, too. If you love it, but are daunted by it, don't despair. Instead, come out to NYC SuperCollider…

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
