“ Because if you love and want to read, but tend to procrastinate, meeting with a group gives you some good discipline to 'just do it'. And, rather than reading in an isolated vacuum, it doesn't get any better than bouncing thoughts and impressions around with other supportive enthusiasts who have read the same book. ”

“ Of course, not everyone was so well-behaved or open to discussion. One kid (a teenager) came in Julian's face and was shouting the reasons why Kaporos needs to be done with chickens. I walked right up to him and said in the quietest, most controlled voice I could muster, " excuse me, but why are you shouting at him? He's not shouting at you." The kid immediately de-escalated. One young girl, maybe 14, came up to another woman and I and was heckling us. I looked right at her and asked "What are you doing, didn't your parents ever teach you respect for your elders?" A Chabad man (on their side), hearing that, told the girl what she was doing was disrespectful, and that she should step away from us and stop bothering us. There were also several outright NUTS, who just came over to scream things about the Holocaust, accuse of anti-Semitism, and start their own mini-counter demonstration in support of doing Kaporos with chickens. ”
