Join Sea Shepherd Conservation Society NYC chapter for a beach clean up at Coney Island Beach in Brooklyn, NY. Each year, millions of pounds of trash are dumped into the oceans. Plastic makes up for approximately 80 to 90 percent of that trash. All of this garbage is a threat to marine wildlife as fish and other animals may mistake the trash as food. Unable to digest the garbage, animals starve to death.
Help make a difference by cleaning up Coney Island, one of NYC's most used beaches. We will meet on the Coney Island boardwalk at Stillwell Avenue, just off the D/F/N/Q Stillwell Avenue subway stop. We will be cleaning up the beach from 1 PM to 3 PM. If you cannot locate us, please call 516.939.8029. We will provide bags and work gloves. Remember to bring water and to wear sunscreen. Please wear a Sea Shepherd shirt if you have one.
