You're Invited! Kick-Off Meeting for A Puppy-Store-Free NYC
You are invited to attend the first meeting of New Yorkers interested in participating in a campaign to end the sale in local pet stores of puppies bred by exploitive breeders.
Did you know that 70% of the pure breed dogs in New York City shelters were born in a puppy mill? The cute pet stores in the city are simply the happy face of a gruesome industry.
Following the model of our hugely successful and ongoing program in Los Angeles, Best Friends Animal Society will launch A Puppy-Store-Free NYC in April 2009. This will be a local program driven by members and friends in the New York area. In Los Angeles, over the last year, 7 pet stores have either changed to a humane model or ceased to do business at all.
This meeting is open to all but is targeted at those who are able to devote 2 hours per week to peaceful protests and public information to end the sale of puppy mill dogs in the New York area.

Hi All -- I now have a conflict and cannot attend this meeting. While I don't usually have Meetups where there isn't a "host" I decided to keep this on the calendar.
