High Level Agenda
• A brief overview of Vertica Analytics – just a brief intro to level set the audience.
• Go through the concepts of Pattern Matching.
• Allow the users to go through the Pattern Matching Exercise
• Users will have time to experiment with platform and ask questions.
How to participate in the Hands-on Session
Prior to the meet-up, please follow instructions here: http://files.meetup.com/995599/Local_Analytics.pdf to set up the Vertica Virtual Machine and other relevant files that will be used for the hands-on session. Mac and Windows environments are supported.
The download and setup of the Virtual Machine is a definite prerequisite if you'd like to code along. However, participation is optional. If you'd just like to sit back and listen, you are still more than welcome.
Sourabh Mehta joining us again for this follow-up, deep-dive
Sourabh joined HP Vertica from SAP where he worked as a Solution Engineer supporting their Database and Technology suite of products, including Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE), IQ, SAP HANA and Business Objects in the Banking, Capital Markets and Insurance industries. As a result, Sourabh has a keen grasp of competitive strengths and weaknesses of each of these well-known technology solutions.
Prior to Sourabh’s focus on Financial Services, Sourabh worked as a Solutions Architect and Database Administrator to help design and implement Database and Data Warehousing solutions with MS SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL in the Public Sector, Manufacturing, Retail and Healthcare Industries.
Sourabh has a Master's degree in Information Technology and a Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY.
Curtis Bennett will be leading the hands-on workshop segment:
Curtis has been in Vertica Professional Services for over a year and has traveled the country (and even overseas) during that time. In addition to delivering all the Vertica training content to clients, Curtis has been responsible for client implementations, problem-solving, design methodologies and trouble-shooting. Curtis has an extensive database background and his resume includes Wal-Mart, Sprint, Dell, American Express and many other Fortune 100 companies. Curtis lives in Phoenix, AZ.”
