Eat, Screen, Love, Eat

As in years past, let's come together to eat, see a double bill of Oscar nominated shorts, and then eat again.

So lets brunch at 11, lineup at IFC at 12:30. Then we will see live action shorts at 1 pm. Stay in that same theater for the animated shorts at 3:25, going to dinner thereafter at 5 pm around the big corner to Blossom on Carmine. Recommend joining at any point, noting coming in for the animated shorts only is typically quite difficult as most people stay in their seats from the prior screening of live action shorts. Likewise, you are welcome to leave at any point. It's a good idea to bring your own water bottle and a snack or two for the middle afternoon.

My apologies, I thought I unchecked my RSVP last night because of the storm (I changed it on my phone, I don't know why it didn't work). I meant to say I could no longer attend and I hope that didn't mess you up.

I'm booked to shoot the storm last night and today, do I'll miss this. Have fun.

The shorts look great. As for one of the shorts possibly being disturbing, well this is Indie films we're talking about, not Disney. And I'd say the disturbing images are often the most important. For example, those graphic undercover factory farm vids that helped inspire me (and many others) to go Vegan years ago...

Check out the subject matter of the short films as one may be too hard for animal lovers to watch.

I just looked at the subject matter of the short films and I don't really want to see the film shorts. However, the documentary shorts sound amazing to me. I may meet you for brunch and then go to the documentary shorts instead. Thanks for letting me know that this venue even exists! I didn't know that they screened the nominated shorts!

Thanks for all the legwork:) I looked on IFC website and also called them and was told they will post what will be shown on the 9th by tomorrow night if that helps.

We'll be at the brunch, not sure about the screening though. Thanks for organizing!

How much does it cost to see the film shorts and then the animation shorts? Each is a separate charge? Can you hold your seat while you pay for the second set of films? Sorry for so many questions.

    February 4, 2013

    • Demetrius

$13.50 for each category of shorts.
Yes, each is its own fee AND ticket. From my read, you would spend $40+ bux for movies Saturday.

This is a super popular event, so we'll need to have tickets IN ADVANCE whether one two or three shows. I tried to buy mine this past Saturday in-person; they were not yet available sadly. So I will have to pay the online surcharge.

I may want to stay for the documentary shorts which come after the animation shorts. Is it one price for all the shorts?

    February 3, 2013

    • Demetrius

No, three separate tickets - live action; animated; documentary

Looking forward to brunch, and the first set of shorts.

Heads up - the subject matter of one of the short films may be hard to watch for animal lovers. I will join you at another venture. Enjoy.
