I just got on MeetUp because I'm looking to meet people in the city, and typed in "vegan" in the search criteria. That easy.
I generally cook every two days and bring my lunch with me to work. Soho, as cool as it is, isn't a particularly vegan-friendly zone, so I take my lunches. Today I had home-made polenta with spicy black-eyed peas, carrot sticks and calamata olive hummus, a peach, an apple, and a quinoa salad that I love to make.
Well, my favorite vegan spot in the whole world was in Atlanta, specifically Virginia Highlands, but they closed down a few years ago. It was called "Lush," and they had the most out-of-this-world brunch. These days, I enjoy FoodSwings where one of my roommates works, as well as Wild Ginger, and this little place out in Park Slope called Zeytoons. They have awesome falafal.
I'd love to have a night out at Candle79. I know it's not that creative, but I'd love to go there with a whole bunch of other vegans.
Hi! My name is Rachel, and I moved to New York in November. I live in Brooklyn with two other vegans, and I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to reach into the fridge and know that ANYTHING I pull out is vegan friendly.
