Legendary traditional Scottish music group Battlefield Band return to New York on this night so we'll join them at DROM.
With a history stretching back more than 40 years to the Glasgow suburb of Battlefield, the Battlefield Band have both defined and revived Scottish music, combining the bagpipes with other instruments such as fiddle, synthesizer, guitar, flutes, bodhran and accordion for a sound that's traditional and modern at the same time.
The band's current lineup includes a mix of long-time members and more recent additions including:
- Sean O'Donnell (vocals, guitar)
- Ewen Henderson (fiddle, bagpipes, whistles, piano, vocals)
- Alasdair White (fiddle, whistle, bazouki, Highland and small pipes)
- Mike Katz (Highland and small pipes, whistles, guitar, bass)
Battlefield Band has recorded 30 albums throughout its long, illustrious career and as recently as last year was named "Scottish Folk Band of the Year" at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards.
Doors at 7, music at 8. Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door. For an extra $20, you can order a haggis dinner at DROM. Click HERE to buy tickets online. Optional pre-meetup at the Nai Tapas Bar, 174 1st Ave., at E. 11th St, starting about 6:15.
