Announcing a new event for The Metro NYC Environmental Meetup!

What: Volunteer to help Sierra Club with their Cool Neighborhoods Campaign

When: Wednesday, December 5, 5:30 PM and Tuesday December 4, 5:30PM

Event Description: Columbia University is joining Sierra Club's Cool Neighborhoods campaign! Columbia has distributed Sierra Clubs energy pledge to residents in 7,000 units of off-campus housing!

They have invited Sierra Club volunteers to help reach out to residents at apartment buildings in the Columbia University area -- Upper Westside / Morningside Heights. We will give away a free energy efficient compact fluorescent lightbulb (CFL) to every tenant who signs the energy pledge. To see a copy of the pledge, go to: Cool Columbia

Please sign up to volunteer on either Tuesday (12/4) or Wednesday (12/5). Indicate which evening you can join us. If you can't make it the whole time but would like to volunteer, please email me Cathy

We will gather each day at 5:30 p.m. at:

Community Food & Juice*
2893 Broadway (Btwn 112th & 113th St.)

We'll have a brief training and then go to buildings in the area from 6-8pm to give away CFLs and sign people up. We'll get back together afterwards to enjoy appetizers, hang out & hear more about Cool Neighborhoods.
