On Wednesday, July 9th, I am going to be hosting a mini-party/gathering at my apartment sponsored by Green Apple Cleaners. For those of you who've been to my apartment before, I moved last month and am back in Manhattan on the UES. I will email my address out with directions a few days before the event.
Most dry cleaners use PERC (suspected carcinogen) as a cleaning agent which has been found to run off into drinking and ground water and remain on clothing long after it?s been hung up in your closet. Come learn more about an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional dry cleaning services, chat with new friends over snacks and beverages, and try your hand at some green trivia for some door prizes.

Solar One Needs Your Help!
Message from Dina at Solar 1:
Hi everyone, It's that time of year when we need you most-Citysol! The dates are June 26-29, and what an amazing 4 days they will be... This year's lineup is hugely exciting, including Care Bears on Fire, So Percussion premiering 16 Words, a new work about the words added to the dictionary last year (one of them is biodiesel!), tons of music (including a Very Special Ultra-Secret Mystery Guest), art installations, workshops, panel discussions and much more! For a full description, check out http://www.citysol.org
. So naturally with all that fun, we need a lot of help. First of all, we need marketing help: handing out postcards and putting up posters. We are going to try and hit as many big events as we can. If you're already planning on going somewhere this week, please stop by Solar 1 and pick up some Citysol postcards to pass out. And please let me know if you're interested in being a Publicity Volunteer who could help our lovely intern Rie hand out postcards this weekend! Then we need people for the actual event itself. There are about 10 different jobs, including Door, Bartender, Waste Management (keeping garbage separated and helping people figure out what to do with their trash, recyclables and compostables), manning the Solar 1 and Volunteer tables, Stage (best for those who are capable of heavy lifting), Water (making sure jugs are filled and people have enough cups), Floaters, Workshop helpers (on Sunday only) and of course, Setup and Breakdown. I think the easiest way to organize this will be to email me if you're interested, the days and times you're available, and maybe 3 jobs you'd like to do in order of preference. Then we'll see what we have to do to fill the gaps. I would also like to have a volunteer orientation on Wed 6/25 at around 5 to go over what we need to do. If you have friends who might be interested in helping, please forward this to them.
Thanks a million for all you do,
