How can we step up NYC responses to climate change and declining fuel supplies? Join us in an exploration of the Transition movement, and how it could be applied to NYC. About 360 communities in 34 countries, including 90 cities and towns across the US, are currently exploring how to transition from an oil dependent lifestyle to a more sustainable way of living. www.transitionus.org.

Tonight we’ll have a free screening of The End of Suburbia at 7 PM, followed by networking and discussion at 8:15 PM. Come for one or both and meet other environmentally aware people.

Hosts for tonight’s film include:
- Dan Miner, Peak Oil NYC Meetup www.meetup.com/peakoilnyc/ and
Beyond Oil NYC www.beyondoilnyc.org
- Anne Pope, Executive Director, Sustainable Flatbush. This exemplary Brooklyn neighborhood nonprofit is what a Transition-informed NYC response looks like. http://sustainableflatbush.org/
- Pat Hemminger, Science and environmental journalist, whose article about the Transition movement “Going Local,” appeared in the May/June issue of E-The Environmental Magazine
