German Language Practice Meetup

This is a fun event with a bit of programmed time to introduce yourself and meet others and then play a game before further mingling.

You can be at any level of study, but at least a basic vocabulary and sense of grammar helps.  You may otherwise want to bring:  a notebook, a writing implement, and perhaps a German dictionary, book, magazine, or newspaper.  If you want to prepare, try to be able to answer in German at least some basic facts about yourself, like where you live, what you do for work, and anything interesting that has happened to you recently.

During the last event, we broke into two groups and introduced ourselves and then played a game of Tabu in which I graded the cards on difficulty, so players could choose how difficult a word they wanted.  Afterward people just chatted.

For this event, we will again allow 40, but we will break into two groups only for introductions.  After that, everyone will get the name of some famous person taped to their forehead or back, and then by asking others one question at a time, you have to figure out who you are.  After that, we will have open discussion again.

We only need one native speaker this time, so if you are one, please indicate that in your RSVP.

Here are some questions you may want to learn for the game Sunday: Bin ich tot (oder lebendig)? Bin ich männlich (oder weiblich)? Bin ich für [etwas] berühmt? All your questions will have to be ja/nein.

Hallo! I've had an interest in learning the German language and its culture. Currently, I have almost no working knowledge of this language. I am trying to learn some things on Rosetta stone and meet a native to practice with.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
