German Language Practice Meetup

Come introduce yourself, play a game, and have some open conversation to help improve your use and understanding of German.  If you're a native speaker, it's a great way to help others and network.

You can be at any level of study, but at least a basic vocabulary and sense of grammar helps.  You may otherwise want to bring:  a notebook, a writing implement, and perhaps a German dictionary, book, magazine, or newspaper.  If you want to prepare, try to be able to answer in German at least some basic facts about yourself, like where you live, what you do for work, and anything interesting that happened to you recently.

i was a little scared because this was my very first German speaking experience but it turned out to be great. i especially appreciate how Mark, the organizer took care to move around/change seatings to talk to different people and put an effort to include even beginners in the conversation. i am now even more inspired to study and practice. Vielen Dank Mark, es freut mich dich kennen zulernen! danke schön alles!

Gleichweis! kennenzulernen is one word, but otherwise perfect!

I didn't have time to develop a more involved game, sorry, and we had so many beginners, I decided to do something simple instead. Next time, bring some newspapers and magazines in German so we can talk a bit about current events.

Sueyoung, if you're just starting, the open conversation portion will be best suited for you as you'll get a chance to talk to someone one on one. The scheduled program is usually done with the entire group. See you there!

Today's game will deal with comparatives and superlatives, and you don't need to bring anything, unless you want to bring a dictionary.
