New York City's German-American Steuben Parade is here!
We invite you to join us to watch the Annual German American Steuben Parade from the corner of 72nd street and 5th Avenue (Park Side)! rain OR shine! We are not marching in the parade this year, so we can actually enjoy watching the parade for a change.
I will be wearing a black Deutschtreffen T-shirt, so you can find us.
At 1:00 PM the doors open for the Oktoberfest in Central Park. Join us as we raise our glasses in a toast to German-Americans featuring German music and dance groups as well as beer and bratwurst for an after-parade party you will never forget! PROST!
Inside the Oktoberfest tip: Buddy up with a few people and as soon as you get there get on line for food and drinks. What usually works is if you send 2 people to get several pitchers of beer and a 2 people to get several plates of food and designate a location to meet back at. In order to keep a "home base" I suggest we should all meet near the Jever Bierzelt as we have in the last several years. Or look for a Meetup sign like the picture above. Watching the Parade is free, however Oktoberfest tickets have gone on sale here: http://steubenoktoberfest.eventbrite.com/.
This event has been our largest and most fun events, so I hope you'll all join us. Children are of course welcome to join us as well. Last but not least get a good night sleep on Friday and wear comfortable shoes since it is a long day.
Alles gute, Prost!
