I am part of a project to improve education in German-speaking Europe.
Are any of you interested in the education situation in Germany, Austria, Switzerland or Northern Italy (perhaps you have nephews, nieces, kids, grandkids, etc. in Germany or simply an interest in education in general - there is a parallel project planned for the US)?
Central Europe is faced with both a major academic problem (large % of population is not getting the education needed to enable them to participate in the productive side of society) and a major integration problem (poor German language skills). We hope to dramatically improve the academic achievement of the majority of youth in German-speaking Europe (math, sciences and especially, German language skills and ability to fully integrate) within a short period. We hope to have more than 100,000 kids in
student-driven, non-profit learning clubs in almost every city in central Europe within a year.
You may wonder why am I looking for people in the US to talk about an education project in Europe. The reason is simply because I am currently here in the US and because good ideas can come from anyone anywhere in the world nowdays.
I will be meeting with the Coordinator for this project from Germany in Boston in a few weeks, and am looking for thoughts and suggestions.
I hope some of you would like to now more and I hope to hear from you soon.
P.s. Sorry if some of you are members of multiple meetups and therefore getting this email more than once. But I do hope that this might double the number of you who respond :-)
