Announcing a new Meetup for The New York City Hebrew Language Meetup Group!

We will start off with Lunch and Hebrew chit-chat at Angelica Kitchen. Vegetarian/Vegan Restaurant (no kashrut certification) There is a $10 minum + 30% to cover tax and tip which means that your meal will come to no less than $13.

Then we will walk over about 4 blocks to the 14th Street Y (on 14th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenue) for The Body Symposium:

The Body Symposium will feature a lively round table discussion addressing aspects of the Jewish Body and the Israeli Body as seen by contemporary artists through Jewish text and contemporary art. Panelists include: Stephen Hazan Arnoff, Executive Director of the 14th Street Y and Founder of LABA; Dr. Ruth Calderon, Founder and Chair of Alma Home for Hebrew Culture; Ruby Namdar, Writer, Jewish Text Teacher, and participating artists. The discussion will be followed by a presentation and conversation on the new book The Jewish Body by the author Melvin Konner and Gabe Sanders.

Symposium to be followed by gallery reception and signing of the book The Jewish Body and LABALMA Body Catalog.

LABALMA Body Symposium, Sunday, October 18th, 4-7 pm, FREE

PLEASE NOTE: A minimum of 5 people have to sign up with a definite "Yes" for both the meal and the symposium for this event to take place. If there are not at least 5 definte "yes" RSVP's that have been confirmed, by 9:00 a.m. Sunday, this event will be cancelled.

MY POLICIES:

1) Members who sign up "yes" are expected to show up. Members who sign up "yes" but do not attend the event will be asked NOT to sign up for any more of my events at all in the future. This policy takes effect at the first violation.

2) You will receive an e-mail notice, to CONFIRM YOUR "YES" RSVP sometime between Friday 10/16 and 9:00 a.m. Sunday 10/18. RSVP's Not Confirmed in that time period will be removed. (The e-mail reminder will include instruction on how to confirm.)

3) Members who sign up "maybe" MUST update their RSVP's to a definite "yes" or "no" by 9:00 a.m Sunday, 10/18. RSVPs not updated by that time will be removed.
