Job Summary


The responsibilities of an Application Security Analyst include:


•              Coordinate the activities of an identity management solution and coach development teams in its implementation.

•              Guide identity management operational and support teams.

•              Perform design, research and planning, mentor and coach developers on application security, SSO, and identity management advice to development teams.

•              Perform hardware/software, security, interoperability, reusability, scalability and performance analysis.

•              Recommend security and access management policy changes. Configure/Implement security policy enforcement strategies.  Create security policy recommendations for web services.Create and deliver presentations, communicating technical and highly complex security design  information to management and public groups.



Required skills and experience:


•              Expert and working knowledge in modern Single Sign-On products such as Oracle Access Manager (strong plus), Oracle Identity Manager (strong plus), CA SiteMinder, Sun Identity Manager and IBM Tivoli Identity Manager.

•              Expert and working knowledge in Identity Federation concepts and products such as Oracle Identity Federation (strong plus), Sun Federation Manager, or PingIdentity PingFederate and PingTrust, etc.

•              Familiar with web and Web Service security related products such as Forum System XML Security Gateway, Actional SOAPStation, Amberpoint, etc.

•              Knowledge of the Financial Industry is highly desirable.


Desirable skills and experience:


Excellent communication skills are essential, with strong verbal and writing proficiencies and good facility with creating and delivering presentations.


A minimum of 8 years of experience in software development, out of which a minimum of 5 - 6 years of experience in application security and identity management.


Technical skills:


•              Expertise in application security including Web based, Web Service based and Messaging based application security, Identity Management and SSO area. Working knowledge of WS-Security, SAML, Liberty Alliance, Certificate Authority (CA), PKI, Kerberos, SSL, HTTPS, LDAP, Active Directory, etc

•              Will provide expertise and operational guidance and support in application security, SSO, and identity management to developers. Be a conduit for application security related questions and concerns.

•              Experienced in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), with strong understanding of Web Service security and Messaging (such as JMS) security. Experience with Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) is a strong plus.

•              Experience with J2EE application development, including servlets and JSPs, JDBC, and EJBs.  Proficiency in the development environment, including IDE, web server, application server, programming frameworks, source control system, unit-testing tool and defect management tool. Development experience in WebLogic Application Server environment is a plus.

•              Good knowledge of and hands-on experience with XML/XSL and Web Services (UDDI, SOAP, ebXML, WSDL).

•              Understanding of Java and .Net security standards such as JAAS, or other relevant standards in J2EE and .Net platforms.

•              Good understanding in object-oriented analysis and design.  Broad understanding of design patterns.  Understands the application development lifecycle well (from requirements through production) and understands different development processes (XP, agile, waterfall, spiral, etc.).


Educational Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline is preferable. A Masters degree in  Computer Science (or related discipline) is highly desirable.

I wanted to reach out to the group for some guidance. Im currently representing a number of firms in the NYC area from large financial houses to eCommerce, Software and start- ups. One thing that has been consistent in our clients searches has been Java Web. Im looking to network with talented Java web Engineers with Spring, Hibernate and SOAP or REST experience.

Position: software engineer with industry experience who will participate in the full software development lifecycle in building large scale, high performance applications.
